Community Break Box #6: 2004 Fleer Classic Clippings

Woo.  Back.  Thanks for being patient and for the well-wishes, everybody.  I’ll have the hockey contest winners up tomorrow.  Still coughing a bit too much for my tastes, and I’d like to be able to talk as I webcam the randomization without making you all sick.  So….here’s a pre-recorded box of cards where you don’t have to worry about such things.  I give you 2004 Fleer Classic Clippings.

This video turned out better than the previous one.  I know those that commented said the other one looked fine, but consider that Andy and I went to college for these things, and this wouldn’t cut the mustard.  At least here the cards are more recognizable.

How’d we do?
Not too bad.  The hits decided to show up way too early in the game for my liking and we didn’t get anything extra.  I guess it can’t happen every time, can it?  Otherwise, the selection of inserts/hits were varied and look pretty nice to me.

The Rios Rookie Parallel is /150. I checked the rest and that was the only one.

I know I was razzing the Bobby Crosby.  I read more later and found that the box score is from his rookie debut game.  That makes more sense and I appreciate the research compared to just throwing in any ol’ clipping.

Jays are cleaning up on this box. Imagine how much better this box would have been in 2004!

I’m quite happy with the way these shook out.  Now, I know I said in the video that I would random this triple card off.  Under my rules, if it’s a team I have claimed but not a player I collect, I relinquish my stake.  That brings it down to the Red Sox and Cardinals.  Well….also under my rules, the card goes to the team without a hit.  That would happen to be the Cardinals here.  So, this card will be going to Mojo.  Things could potentially change in the last box if there’s another Cardinal hit.  Only I know the truth.  For now, this is going in the STL pile.  Don’t worry TJ, you still have the Nomah bat, and one more box to go.

Alright, guys.  Thanks again for baring with me.  Hopefully the last box will work out well for all you crazy hitless types.  Thankfully there aren’t too many of you left thanks to all the luck we’ve had so far.

  • The hitless types. Sigh. I should have expected this for a early/mid 2000s break of the Tigers Bring on the last box! I’m calling a Pudge Rodriguez insert right now.

  • This set is the best so far…fantastic base design, really great layout on the auto/jersey cards and the box score clippings look like really sweet cards.

Thanks for posting and glad you’re feeling better.

  • Mojo
