You Always Remember Your First

I have very few card collections given my limited resources and space, but I did decide some time ago to begin collecting on-card Royals autographs. It’s been a blast so far trying to track these things down and this is the latest addition to my collection. To view the cards currently in the collection, take a look at the Gallery or the other posts in this series. I’m working on getting a legit want list together on my trade page but, in the meantime, if you have any on-card Royals autos that it looks like I don’t have, don’t hesitate to drop me a line!

An exceptionally gross title considering we’re talking about pieces of paper with pictures of men on them. But here’s one I’m pretty stoked about, so can the gutter-talk, misters!

A honest-to-Topps rookie auto!

What Scribbles McGee up there is trying to say is, “I’m a RC auto and proud of it!” You see, Hosmer never got a chance to get any bogus Prospect XRC nonsense autos. Nope. This is from his rookie year. His very excellent rookie year which saw him place 3rd in ROY voting. So, not only is this his first rookie auto (actually, it isn’t, since his Topps Chrome and Triple Threads autos were released earlier in the year but really who will remember that in 10 years), but it’s my first Tier One auto! Oh, and it’s also the first auto of his I acquired!

Yes, I know I showed a redemption for a dual auto with Billy Butler from this very same set, but for starters that’s not an auto that’s a redemption and for finishers, I got this one first but blogged about the other one earlier because I felt guilty we hadn’t posted in a month. But now that we’re back in the swing of things, I can show this puppy off.

I’ve also got more Tier One to show off because I’ve become a bit… obsessed with it. I don’t know why. It’s way out of my range and the design isn’t the best in the world but… oh, I’ll just have to figure it out in another post.

But for now, bask in blue-tinted glow of the Royals’ starting first baseman’s whack-ass signature.
