’96 & Hits Community Break Box #1: 1996 Finest Series 1

Let the break begin!  I know I’m really getting started about a week later than I initially anticipated.  Also, thanks to work, I’m getting started later in the day than I anticipated.  Still, I said I’d have the first box posted on Monday and, well…. close enough!

Today is all about the top box

We’re starting with the Series 1 box today.  Since we only have 4 boxes total, I’m spreading the wealth throughout the week.

As I said in the video, Play at the Plate, let me know if you have any interest in the Dean Palmer glued to the front considering you got two non-glued copies in the box.  For those who don’t have time for videos, here are a couple scans of the highlights.

Will you peel?

I wanted to show an example of each of the four themes that comprise series 1.  They aren’t inserts, per se.  It’s more like the entire set is actually 4 giant subsets with extremely SP’d cards thrown in for good (?) measure.  The bronze is your common variety and also the most likely to produce doubles.

Inserts & Refractors

So, I’m not really sure why I kept referring to the Gold Checklist as a refractor.  It definitely is not.  Still pretty ridiculous that it A) is a one-per-box rare SP gold card and B) counts as that.  If I were a set builder, I’d be pissed.  So, any set builder out there want it?  I checked and it appears to be worth about what you’d expect it to be worth.  It’s up for grabs, just leave a comment.

As for the other goods, it’s sad that none of the refractors (bottom row) went to claimed teams, but cool that we found a silver refractor in there.  Also, there were two Greg Vaughns. I’m not thrilled with doubles of the rarer silver cards, but what can we do?

This time around, I’m not going to include my teams in the count.  If you really want to know, I can add them in later, but in the interest of saving time and hassle for myself, I’m making it all about you!  Also, for the count, I’m including the silver SPs as inserts.
