Double Colon-Oscopy (Pun Content)

I have very few card collections given my limited resources and space, but I did decide some time ago to begin collecting on-card Royals autographs. It’s been a blast so far trying to track these things down and this is the latest addition to my collection. To view the cards currently in the collection, take a look at the Gallery or the other posts in this series. I’m working on getting a legit want list together on my trade page but, in the meantime, if you have any on-card Royals autos that it looks like I don’t have, don’t hesitate to drop me a line!

Shiny version of a kid playing dressup.

If you don’t think that title is the worst pun ever to appear on a card blog, I implore you to find me a worse one. But anyway, I ended up with 2 of Royals middle infield prospect Christian Colon’s refractor autofrom 2010 Bowman Chrome. These were so high in price until recently that even getting one seemed ridiculous to me.

Here's the double part of that pun.

Colon was the 4th overall pick in the 2010 draft and had the appropriate pressures put upon him to succeed immediately. He had a decent season a A+ ball last year and is having a similar year at AA with slight decreases in BA and SLG but an increase in SB. As a middle infielder, not much is expected of his batting line, but his fielding needs some work. A .964 FLD% won’t get him to the bigs, but he’s only 22 and had plenty of time to develop into the player the Royals expect him to be. It’s possible that he’ll repeat AA in 2012 to develop a bit more (and maybe grow into that helmet) and proabably won’t retain the #51 overall prospect rating he garnered by Baseball America, but I love the dude’s signature even though this was a redemption. So was his base Bowman Chrome auto, of course. As is the blue version which I would love to have if the prices come down a bit (read: a lot).

If anyone is interested in trading for the double here, feel free to send an offer my way!
