Upper Deck Community Break Box #5: 2004 UD Legends Timeless Teams

For every Community Break, I try to find one product that’s full of legends or Hall of Famers.  It’s a way to fill out the under performing pre-expansion teams that people don’t like to claim and give people a chance to get some cool cards of players they don’t see a whole lot.

Will we find a case hit?

It’s worth mentioning each and every time, all of these boxes are courtesy of our good friends and Community Break Sponsor: BASEBALL CARD EXCHANGE

What are you waiting for? Go!!

The video tells all.  The video knows all.

The scans tell very little.  The scanning bed can only fit so much.

Gives a new meaning to Bert's Bees, am I right?

As you can tell in the video, I didn’t fully understand what the set was all about.  I was complaining about seeing multiple cards of the same person.  I didn’t realize until two days ago when I found the Timeless Teams blog (from the makers of Garvey Cey Russell Lopes – who claimed the Dodgers in this fine break) that the point is to feature great teams of the past.

Ain’t I an idiot?  It says it right there on the box.  Never dawned on me for a second.  Can’t believe it took me so long to stumble upon that blog, either.  Reading time has been tougher to find than I thought.

B&W = Memorable

These memorable moments evidently aren’t an insert like I thought.  My inability to flip a card over to look at card numbers while on camera prevented me from properly explaining the subset status.  I’m still counting them as inserts in your count below because we only got 8 in the box and they sure as hell seem like they should be an insert.  They’re probably SP’d although I couldn’t find any proof to back that claim up.

Famous Nickname autos!

The box promises two autographs, and while we didn’t find a case hit, we did hit a couple good ones if I do say so myself.  Both are on-card and Sparky didn’t know how to color within the lines.  Congratulations to Dutch Card Guy on the Goosing he’s about to receive, and congrats to The Card Bandit who snuck in like a cat burglar at the last second and “stole” the Tigers spot.
